We are seeking an experienced and student-centered University & Career Counselor to join our international Secondary School team in August 2026. You will become part of our dedicated University & Career Counseling Team, working closely with our Head of University & Career Counseling. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of global higher education systems, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for supporting students as they transition into their post-secondary pathways.

BMS is the largest international school in the center of Berlin. More than 1000 students from over 60 countries attend our school and are taught using the best international and national curriculum programs. The Berlin Metropolitan School is an all-day school, allowing students from kindergarten through 12th grade to complete a modern and values-based education, culminating into an internationally recognized diploma. An international team of more than 200 dedicated employees lead the way for the learning success of our students.

Aufgaben

  • Provide individualized guidance on global university pathways, including admissions requirements, application processes, essays, testing, and scholarships.
  • Lead group workshops on major international application systems (e.g., UCAS, Common App) and support Grade 10 students in making informed IBDP subject choices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with universities worldwide and coordinate on-campus visits from admissions representatives.
  • Plan and deliver key events, including the AGIS Higher Education Fair and additional university- and career-related activities.
  • Ensure accurate, timely submission of all application materials by managing international portals and coordinating required school documents.
  • Write high-quality recommendation letters and support students in crafting personal statements, CVs, and portfolios.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with students, parents, and staff, keeping the community informed about deadlines, processes, and student achievements.
  • Stay current with global higher education trends and represent the school in professional networks, AGIS groups, and international conferences.

Fähigkeiten

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certification or training in guidance and counselling is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in university advising or counselling, preferably within an international school environment.
  • Strong knowledge of global higher education systems (e.g., UK, US, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of cultural sensitivity, discretion, and professionalism.
