Scientist – Full stack developer for a Helmholtz-wide marketplace portal

DESY, as member of the German Helmholtz Research Association, is partner in a Helmholtz-wide initiative (HIFIS) to provide shared, high quality IT services to scientists within the Association and their world-wide collaboration partners. To provide a unique user experience across all Helmholtz services, the HIFIS team is developing a marketplace, allowing to navigate through a variety of service offerings, as well as to provide means of service orchestration for specific scientific use cases and user groups. In this context, the HIFIS DESY team is looking for a full-stack developer with experience in designing and implementing web portals and marketplaces.
Aufgaben
- Participate in elaborating an action plan for the composability of high level scientific data and computer services
- Enhance the reuse of data in the Photon and Neutron scientific area and beyond
- Contribute to the overall architecture and the design of thematic European Cloud Nodes
- Participate in regular project meetings and co-organise conferences and workshops, both online and in person
- Contribute to regular reports towards the project management and the EC
Fähigkeiten
- Completed a master's degree in computer science, physics or a related subject, or comparable knowledge
- Good knowledge in research data management and enthusiasm about Open Science
- Good knowledge of a modern programming language, such as Python or TypeScript
- Familiarity with modern cloud and deployment technologies, such as Kubernetes and ArgoCD, is beneficial
- Previous experience in large-scale projects involving geographically dispersed teams will be an asset
- Knowledge of web technologies will be advantageous
- Previous experience with large-scale photon and neutron facilities is helpful
- Good spoken and written command of the English language
