European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany. It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques.
For our Experiments Division we are looking for a
PhD Coordinator (f/m/d) – full or part-time
Aufgaben
- Continuous development of our PhD School
- Develop and implement the PhD School Curriculum
- Trusted contact for internal and affiliated PhD Students in all matters related to their PhD studies
- Liaison with national and international graduate programs – with focus on PhD schools in the Hamburg area (IMPRS, DASHH, PIER, …)
- Explore funding opportunities in education and acquire 3rd party funding
- Develop and implement a program to host undergraduate students from shareholder countries
- Promote awareness (and understanding) of the scientific output of the PhD School among staff, scientific community and the public, in collaboration with the Communications Group
- Quality monitoring of the impact and relevance of PhD thesis and related scientific publications
- Support the Scientific Director in coordinating and managing the scientific activities of the PhD School, such as preparing various reports, documentations, analyses, presentations and speeches
- ## Requirements
Fähigkeiten
- PhD in physics, chemistry or a related discipline
- Proven research experience (> 5 yrs), if possible at large scale user facilities
- Experiences in science management, ideally gained in a publicly funded environment
- Strong project management competences
- Ideally, didactic knowledge and experience
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to work in a multi-lingual, multidisciplinary team; English is the working language, knowledge of German is considered an asset.
- Open minded, service-oriented, collaborative and assertive personality
- A high level of motivation and flexibility, be able to work as part of a team and willing to travel if needed
