Next-Gen Tools

The advanced mechatronics research team is responsible to develop proof-of-concepts for new products and services for the organization, leveraging diverse areas of expertise in the field of mechatronics, sensing, control, algorithms, actuators and machine learning for power tools. In this role you will contribute towards bringing innovation into the next generation of Hilti’s tool portfolio. Through cooperation with business units as well as academia, your ideas can bring customer value in the mid-long term.

Possibility to work less than 40 hrs./week (min. 32 hrs./week).

Aufgaben

  • Drive product and technology innovation by conducting research in controls engineering, state estimation, and systems engineering
  • Develop new mechatronic systems through proof-of-concepts and functional prototypes
  • Understand customer opportunities and pain points via application studies, jobsite visits, and collaboration with business units
  • Participate in ideation activities to identify and evaluate technical solutions
  • Contribute to R&D projects with national and international partners in academia and industry
  • Influence Hilti’s technology roadmap and support the definition and development of future products

Fähigkeiten

  • Proven experience with advanced control theory, state estimation and systems thinking
  • PhD or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Applied Mathematics/Physics, or related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in industry or academia
  • Proficiency in embedded systems, electronics and prototyping beneficial, experience in machine learning beneficial
  • Strong project management skills as well as excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Collaborative mindset, business acumen and curiosity
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are an advantage
