GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt operates one of the leading particle accelerators for science. Currently, the new FAIR ( F acility for A ntiproton and I on R esearch) one of the world's largest research projects, will be built in international cooperation. The international NUSTAR (NUclear STructure, Astrophysics and Reactions) collaboration comprises more than 700 engaged scientists (all genders) from over 170 participating institutions worldwide. NUSTAR experiments are ongoing in the FAIR Phase-0 research program, and will be the first to be carried out at the new Superconducting-FRagment Separator (Super-FRS) facility at FAIR in the coming years.
The Experiment Coordination NUSTAR department is looking to hire a motivated
Interface and Integration Engineer for Research Facilities (all genders)

as soon as possible to support the NUSTAR experimental program at GSI/FAIR. The successful applicant will take over a key role in coordinating technical and scheduling matters between scientific departments, construction project participants, and project management.
Aufgaben
- coordinating the installation planning and actual installation of NUSTAR components at the FAIR facility
- supporting the planning and realisation of experimental infrastructure and technical building infrastructure at the FAIR facility
- undertaking the role of “Installation Representative” for the NUSTAR sub-project
- representation of NUSTAR within the overarching machine installation management via participation in relevant meetings, workshops, etc.
- managing interfaces between NUSTAR equipment and the Super-FRS facility and technical building infrastructure
- supporting the maintenance of the installation time schedule
- working with the NUSTAR team to ensure that the technical, safety and quality requirements are met for all areas of responsibility
Fähigkeiten
- at least a Master’s degree in engineering, physics or related discipline
- several years of professional work experience in setting up complex machines or systems, preferably in comparable scientific environments
- outstanding organisational and communication skills
- proven experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and in international teams
- fluency in the German and English languages
- a keen interest to work within a large collaboration in a scientific environment
